Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 15, 2026
At Screen Meditation (accessible at screenmeditation.com and via the Screen Meditation iOS application), we believe true mindfulness begins with complete trust and peace of mind. We have designed our software from the ground up to respect your digital sovereignty and protect your personal privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains how Screen Meditation operates and confirms our absolute commitment: we do not collect, sell, or monetize your personal information.
Who We Are & Contact
Screen Meditation is published as an independent mindfulness resource and native iOS application. If you have questions about this policy or our data practices, you can reach us directly at:
Email: support@screenmeditation.com
Website: https://screenmeditation.com
Zero Personal Data Collection
We believe meditation apps should never be surveillance tools. When you use the Screen Meditation iOS application:
- No user accounts: You never need to create a profile, enter an email address, or create a password.
- No backend user database: We run no private servers tracking our users. There is no remote account where your activity is logged.
- No analytics SDKs: The application contains zero third-party telemetry frameworks, crash trackers, or behavior profiling tools.
- No advertising identifiers: We do not request, access, or track IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) or IDFV for marketing purposes.
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
All your activity and preferences stay exclusively on your personal device:
- Practice History (SwiftData): When you complete a meditation session longer than 60 seconds, a record is saved locally in an encrypted database managed by iOS (SwiftData). It stores the date, duration, practice type, and completion state.
- App Preferences (UserDefaults): Your selected onboarding answers, audio volume balances, timer chime settings, and notification hour are saved in your device's standard local preferences.
- Audio Cache: Streamed audio files are stored in your device's local sandbox cache folder so you can listen offline.
Complete Control & Deletion: You can delete all your stored data at any time directly within the app by going to Settings > Storage > Reset all local data. Deleting the application from your iOS device immediately and permanently deletes all local SwiftData records and cache files.
Apple Health Integration
Screen Meditation offers optional integration with Apple Health (HealthKit) to log your mindful minutes. Our integration operates under strict principles:
- Write-Only Permission: The app requests permission solely to write mindful session records (
HKCategoryValueMindfulSession). - No Reading of Health Data: We never request permission to read, inspect, or analyze your Apple Health history, medical data, or vitals.
- No Data Transfer: Your mindful session minutes are saved directly to Apple Health on your device. This data is never uploaded, transferred, or visible to Screen Meditation or any third party.
- Optional & Reversible: You can choose not to link Apple Health, or revoke permission at any moment via your iOS Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Screen Meditation.
In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
Subscriptions and lifetime purchases in Screen Meditation are processed entirely through Apple's native StoreKit 2 system:
- All financial transactions, payment card processing, and receipt validation are handled directly and securely by Apple Inc.
- We never receive, see, or store your credit card numbers, billing addresses, or Apple ID account details.
- Purchase entitlements are cryptographically verified on-device with the App Store.
Network Requests & Content Delivery
Screen Meditation connects to the internet only to retrieve public content:
- The app downloads our public meditation catalog (
content.json) and streaming audio files (.m4a) hosted on our content delivery network. - These network requests are standard static file downloads. They do not transmit your name, device identifier, practice history, or any personal details to our servers.
- You can use the app completely offline once initial audio files are downloaded.
Children's Privacy
Screen Meditation provides peaceful mindfulness content suitable for all audiences, including families. We do not knowingly solicit or collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under the applicable age in your jurisdiction), as the app collects no personal data whatsoever.
Your Rights Under GDPR & CCPA
Because Screen Meditation does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to remote servers, we do not hold personal information that could be accessed, modified, or sold.
Under regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to Access & Portability: All your meditation logs reside in your device's local SwiftData store and in your Apple Health app.
- Right to Erasure: You can purge all app data on demand via the in-app reset button or by uninstalling the application.
- No Sale of Data: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements to our app or changes in legal requirements. Any modifications will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
