Guided Meditation
Scripts written to be read aloud, with the pacing left in.
A guided meditation is a script someone reads to you, and the advantage is simple: you do not have to hold the structure in your head while also doing the practice. That is why guided work suits beginners, and why it stays useful long after you no longer need it.
The scripts here are written to be read aloud — to yourself, by someone else, or recorded once on your phone and reused. They are not transcripts of an app session. Pacing marks are included, because the most common mistake when reading a script aloud is going too fast.
Yoga nidra is the longest and most structured of them, designed for lying down and for a nervous system that needs a full reset. The loving-kindness script and the phrases of compassion are shorter and deal with a specific difficulty: what to do when the standard phrases feel false in your mouth, which is the point at which most people abandon that practice.
Mirror gazing is the outlier of the group. The article is direct about what it is and what it is not, including who should leave it alone.
Where to start
- Yoga Nidra Script: A 25-Minute Practice to Read Yourself — the long one — lying down, twenty-five minutes, a full reset.
- Loving-Kindness Meditation Script (With the Phrases) — for compassion practice, with the exact phrases included.
- Phrases of Compassion: What to Say & How to Mean It — if the standard phrases feel false when you say them.
A practical note on reading scripts aloud. Go slower than feels natural, leave the pauses where they are marked, and do not perform the words — a flat, unhurried voice works better than a soothing one. If you are recording for yourself, one take is almost always enough.

Loving-Kindness Meditation Script (With the Phrases)
